For once in the last decade, the unstoppable force of Marvel Studios may be slowing down, at least temporarily, as the company prepares for its next wave of installments; However, this isn’t to say that fans don’t have anything to get excited about.
Other than Avengers: Infinity War, so far Marvel Studios has confirmed a fourth Avengers movie in addition to a sequel to Spider Man: Homecoming and a third installment of its Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. The fourth Avengers movie is being kept tightly under wraps by studio executives, but is slated for a May release next year and will reportedly conclude Marvel’s vast storyline up to that point. No new Marvel titles beside those listed have been confirmed, but that isn’t to say the cinematic universe will end.
Marvel executive Kevin Feige was quoted by Den of Geek confirming the news, stating, “We won’t do anything until after this time next year. After that, I think we’ll announce where we’re going.”
In years past, Marvel has consistently made large announcements in regard to upcoming films at the annual San Diego Comic-Con, releasing never before seen teaser trailers and giving a timeline for future titles. This year, Marvel will not be attending.
Avengers: Infinity War is slated to be Marvel’s biggest release yet, featuring nearly every character from the various sub-franchises spawned over the past decade. The film hits theaters later this week on April 27.
